" Because revising is probably the most difficult part of the writing process, teacher often postpone teaching children how to revise; however, even first graders can learn to revise"
(Saddler 2003)
I was the one who thought so. But the revising process helps students to improve their writing skill.
So teacher schould not only change thier concept in revising, but they should also help students to see value in revising.
After students have gone through prewriting and drafting process, they should be brought to the revising process in collaboration way.
It might be difficult part to the students if they do revising process indefendently.
But revising process is to be held in a writing group. Students can work in pairs or in a small group.
they reread the rough draft, share the rough in a writing group and revise in the basis of feedback received from the writing group during the revising process.
if students having difficulties to revise thier draft themselves, teacher can work together with the studnets by using anonymous students' writing sample to show them how to revise thier writing.
After the instruction and practice, students meet in writing group to share their compositions.
In the writing groups students take turns reading their compositions aloud and listeners offer their compliments by telling about waht do they like, what do they feel to the writer.
After the compliments the writer asks questions, listeners offer suggestions.
All the comments and suggestions from their classmates have been written for revision.
When students revise thier draft they can make four kinds of changes as they revise; they add,
substitute, delete and move text from one place to another(Faigley & Witte,1981)
After finish the whole revising process students would see that thier writing could be better by revising stage.
