Module11 reding reflection

Children are natural poets. They have a natural affinity for songs, verses and rhymes. Babies and preschoolers respond positively wwhen thier parents repeat Mother Goose rhymes, read A.A.Milne's Winnie-the-pooh sotires, and sing songs to them. older children continue this interest in poetry as they create jumproperymes and other ditties on the playground. Miss Clark's students affirm this interest in poetry they are enthusiastically involved in reading and writing poetry and think of themselves as poets. Jack Prelutsky and other poets have createed many collections of poems that spark children's interest in poetry. These poets write about topics that appeal to children, such as poltergeists, parents and dinosaure. When children know how to write poems and use poetic devices, they can create vivid word pictures, powerful images and emotional expressions.(Tompkins 243)
